Claudette discusses the differences in Southeastern One Call & One Call Centers of America. SOCS - Discuss what is happening industry wide, sharing information, experiences, problems and solutions. Focus on erasing boundaries and unity in the Dig Safely Program. Goal is a unified message to the excavators. OCCA - made up of 13 one calls whose function is to consolidate costs through consortium buying.

Utility Expo 2000 - August 2nd in Macon, GA, at the CentraPlex. Free trade show targeting utility owner/operator and excavators. In the future, it will be used for training sessions and a meeting place for involved members to discuss issues. Action Items: Claudette will reserve booth space. Discussed possible future involvement in National Boring Rodeo. MCI cut 17 times on parallel builds, 15 were directional boring.

BellSouth discussed the progress of the Courtesy Stop Program in Cobb County.

Discussion about licensing process for boring contractors. Damages from directional boring are on the rise. Tom Jackson of GA Power heads the Directional Boring Committee. Action Item: Claudette suggests we build on their program and she will invite Tom to speak to us about his vision for this committee.
